Knox County Schools Superintendent Jim McIntyre said Tuesday that he has not applied for nor has he been offered another job.
McIntyre has been speculated as a candidate for the position of state education commissioner under new Gov. Bill Haslam, the former mayor of Knoxville.
“I love the job that I am doing now as the superintendent of schools of Knox County,” McIntyre said at the end of his report to the Knox County School board during its workshop session Tuesday evening.
McIntyre became superintendent in March 2008. He said that the school system has a number of great assets, from the community to the school board.
