Knox school board agendas to be timed

They’ll not be using egg timers or giving people the hook just yet.
But Knox County school board members next week are trying timed agendas. The goal? To see if they can keep discussions on point and limit ramblings.
“I’ve come to the conclusion that longer meetings don’t necessarily mean better quality meetings or better decisions,” board Chairwoman Indya Kincannon said Friday.
Kincannon, who introduced the idea, said using timed agendas is not meant to shorten deliberation on important topics.
“But sometimes we can belabor the same points over and over again,” she said. “I admit I am guilty sometimes of repeating myself and reiterating what my colleagues have said. I think this will be a good way for me to be disciplined as well.”
