Coronation Park Rec Centre Open House

The City of Edmonton is in the concept and planning phase for the development of a world-class indoor cycling facility at Coronation Park, which, coupled with the Olympic-sized pool at Peter Hemingway Leisure Centre, could be a host site for elite athlete development in Canada for a variety of athletic events, including triathlon. The cycling facility would be part of a community recreation centre that will also include a gymnasium and fitness centre, as well as many other athletic and recreational spaces. Under the current proposal, the Coronation hockey arena would be torn down in favour of additional parking for the facility.

There is an informational open house on Thursday, November 3 from 4:30 to 8:00 PM at the Central Lions Senior Recreation Centre. Anyone interested in the major impact a building of this nature will have on the extended Ross Sheppard campus and on opportunities available to Ross Sheppard students should drop in at some point during the evening to find out more and provide feedback to the city.
